my lunch is vengeance that's never free

the 'daffy' calzone and a beer
from: incendio
price: almost $25
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: the who
comments: am I just lazy, or do I rate everything 4 ampersands these days? I'm tempted to rate this lower, but the food was quite good. it was just very expensive. the calzone was $17. with the beer and tip, it was basically a $25 lunch. I'd do better to go to Market and have the $20 lunch. anyway... with every new job always comes one thing... a trip to the roof of the building. and this one actually have a patio up there that we can use. click to see bill's and my shadow looming over railway street.

and bill had:

a veggie calzone
comments: click bill's lunch to see a small house in the sky. I guess it's art?

some people's lunch isn't strong enough

biscuits n gravy and sausage patties with eggs
from: deacon's corner
price: $15 with coffee
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: the constantines
comments: deacon's corner again. I tried to avoid the expensive $13 breakfasts by gettin one that was under 10. however, adding 2 eggs to this was $3.50 extra. just for 2 fried eggs. that seems a little pricey to me, no? anyway, the sausage, biscuits and gravy were really tasty. click to see the view I get from my desk at work.

and bill had:

veggie scramble
comments: I think bill ordered a veggie omelet, but this came instead. I'm sure it was just as good, since it's really the same thing. just cooked a little differently. speaking of eggs, click to see the fresh egg mart.

and richerd had:

mexican scramble
comments: click richerd's lunch to see some clouds. that's all. just some clouds n water. it's nothing really. in fact, don't even both clicking. oh, now you're gonna aren't you?

vietnamese subs
from: BaLe
price: $2.75 each
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: neil diamond
comments: going to chinatown for subs usually ends up with me on the top of a parking lot taking photos. today was no different. click to see a southeast view from the lot I was on. I also made this wiggly. it took a lot of work to make that one. but it works. I like the gulls. they get rather agitated when up on their roof.

I want to know if lunch is wild, girl I want to know if lunch is real

4 cheese burger
from: 2 chefs and a table
price: $10ish
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: the boss
comments: there was really only one drawback to this burger. very difficult to bite into. but man, it was good. roasted garlic sitting on top there... and the baseball shaped patty was reaaaaally tasty. now click on it to see the jimi hendrix shrine. after a bit of investigating online, it seems that this building is situated where vie's chicken and steak house was located back in the 50's. and jimi's aunt was a cook there. the address is the same, but it sounds like the original building burned down. anyway... there it is. or here it is. see gingerliving behind it? wonder how cartman would react to that condo. aw gross! ew sick!

and bill had:

the noodle bowl of the day
comments: this was a coconut curry noodle bowl. bill seemed to like it. but he was very anxious to leave because his new toy was delivered to the office whilst we ate. click to see said toy.

comments: behind that owl mask is bill. I'm working with him again. so I think he's gonna be in lost of guest lunches again. and hopefully we kill some more. killing him is always good. click his lunch to see how dead chinatown is when I walk home from work. so eerily dead.

from: Bert's
price: $7ish
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: tv on the radio
comments: today I met toby and jamey for lunch. and I almost forgot to take pics of my food. how weird is that? it's weird. after 5 years of this, it's usually pretty easy to remember. oh well. I did remember in the end. click to see erin's new hair. and her old hair. what? that makes no sense. sure it does.

terribly sad news.

Little Miss Minion ~ 1995-2010.
I got a call today from a distraught laura informing me that Minion was hit by a car outside her home in edmonton. my condolences to scott and laura. minion was an awesome cat. she was much loved by her family and friends. hemi and I were very fortunate to have her as a house guest last month, and are sad that there will be no more visits. minion was about 6 years old when she first crossed the balcony railing into my apartment. that was 9 years ago now. We'll miss you, Minion.

derailer burger
from: the railway club
price: $10ish
rating: &&&&.4/&&&&&
listening to: bluegrass cover of modest mouse
comments: I met up with neil today for lunch so I could gigapan from his apartment. the exercise room at his place has a pation that is basically right above chapter's on robson. pretty prefect for gigapanning. of course, I screwed up most of the pans I made. but you can click my lunch to see the one that worked out real good.

and neil had:

a cheeseburger
comments: one of the best parts about gigapannig at neil's is that we get to play ping pong while the gigapan does its thing. I got schooled, though. bah. must improve. must beat neil. or maybe next time, I'll just destroy him in foos at the soho or something. click to see the same intersection from ground level.

vietnamese subs (dac biet)
from: Bale (on kingsway)
price: $3.50 each
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: david bowie
comments: the bale at kingsway and fraser expanded considerably. now they make their own bread. the bread is delicious. it's also 10 inches long. this means I don't need 3 sandwiches. 2 suffice. I will remember that for next time. if you think you see deanna troi... you are probably just imagining it. click to see a house with a fish on it.

and I also had:

generic 'dayquils'
comments: the cold still lingers. these pills make me not feel it. click to see a trailer that totally looks like its in a movie and about to blow up.

she broke my heart but I lunch her just the same now

bagelwich
from: home.
price: blah blah
rating: what you think?
listening to: deep purple
comments: yes. another bagelwich. they are hard to beat for a home meal. and after lunch, I wandered up to Queen E park with my gigapan! finally, you can see a decent gigapan. go on, click my lunch and explore. this was only shot with my 55mm lens. when I set up the same shot with the 200mm lens, it wanted to take 1148 photos. yikes. I calculated that this would take about 40 minutes to shoot. and since it was almost evening, I couldn't chance it. the less zoomed lens took about 1/10th of the time. I'll try a 200mm one soon, but I need a lot of batteries.

and on the weekend I took in:

a sledge hockey game
comments: it's been a crazy time here lately. I went to both olympic and paralympic hockey games for the first time ever. actually, i think it was my first time just going to any hockey game. click to see the crowd going wild. maybe they were doing the wave. I forget. and here's an action shot if you want to see. btw, norway beat sweden in a shoutout. yeah. that's right. I said shoutout. hollah!

#66 (I think) and a lychee blended drink
from: pho le

rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: street fight - round two.
comments: today I met hey ritchie for lunch. because I needed to go to the parkade rooftop in chinatown. why?? why, indeed! it's because I finally got my gigapan!!!! super big thanks to Phil S, Tommy, Phil C, Yiting, Remick, Andy, Dave K, DChong, Teo, Travis, Greg, Russ and Adam for donating towards this awesome birthday present. you guys paid for most of this awesome device. however... you're still gonna have to wait a bit to see results from it. I still need learn how to use it properly before I can get something online. in the meantime, here's what it looks like.

and ritchie had:

we killed the time and I lunch you dear

prime rib sandwich
from: the keg
price: like $17, but for me... free! thanks to john!
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: new massive attack
comments: today, john wu treated me to lunch, cuz I told him how he could win some olympic tickets. fair trade, methinks. anyway, the keg is not a place for great food. nor great prices. I only rated this lunch a 3 because it was free for me. otherwise, it was rather disappointing. the meat was cold in the sandwiches. and a tip was forced onto our bill. was this because we had 6 people? or because the olympics changed things? not sure. but to me, 6 is not the size that demands any forced tip. maybe 8 or more. lame. and cold prime rib?? not cool, man. I guess this is why I rarely go to the keg. but thanks for lunch, john! it was still nice to see everyone and the potatoes were hot, even if it looked like someone had take a bite before I got it.

and john had:

cold prime rib sandwich, too
comments: john seemed to enjoy his yam fries. but he was a little disappointed that the meat was cold. and rightly so. click his lunch to see a wiggly building I saw on my way home. see those 3 little black dots in the sky on the right? eagles. 3 eagles. chillin downtown. crazy.

and the girls:

had lunch, too. but I'm not posting all the pics.
comments: also joining us for lunch today was donald, vivian, xtina and lauren. I took pics of some of their lunches, but I'm not posting them all. too many lunches for 1 post. click to see shots from the georgia viaduct. now that it's open again. yay.

ecoute de: the beatles
les commentes: ok, the truth is that I had to stop listening to the new street fighter album just to find another song quote with "love" in it. ok, now back to man factory. I met bill for lunch today. he is equally stoked to listen to Round Two. my lunch was pretty good. I really only ordered it because of the name of the dish. but bill's mac and cheese looked better. next time... now click to see a funny sign in a window that reads, "raymond moved please do not disturb tenant". the cutest bagelwich aboard
from: home

listening to: street fighter rock opera ROUND TWO! (still)
comments: today, I rode me bike through the disintegrating olympic sites. saw them dismantling the place where I saw canada win the gold of golds. I also saw the olympic rings slowly sinking into the sea. (very slowly, mind you... 100 years, maybe?) and lastly, the olympic torch blown out. good thing that I don't care much about it. in other news, click my lunch to see a bigger wiggly of Locutus of Borg. who always reminds me of this ytmnd (check volume level before clicking that link).
