I need a luncher

vietnameses subs
from: the empress bakery
price: $3.75 each
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: finlay quaye
comments: if you are wondering about this lunch photo, yes - that's bob ross in the background. he's painting happy little trees and such. and no he's not photoshopped into that pic. my sandwich was watching him paint. speaking of sandwiches and celebrities, you gotta check out this awesome tumblr! ok now, click to see what the russians have done with science world. ok, there's not much to see. wonder what they got inside??

makin' lunch in the back of my coupe de ville

bagelwich
from: home
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: the beastie boys
comments: more bagelwich! lookit hemi in that photo. awesome, huh? he's the black void staring down my bagelwich. click to see the foyer of the new woodwards building. that photo on the wall is impressive. there's nothing as awesome as celebrating one of our police force's biggest mistakes by putting up a giant photo recreation of the event, viewable from both sides, to remember it by. in the dtes, nonetheless.

never without your lunch

sushi n stuff
from: i-sushi (arbutus at 10th)
price: not sure, greg treated!
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: careless whisper
comments: is this sushi hi-tech? maybe. can you order iSushi on an iPad? that I don't know. but this place is pretty good. a little bit pricey, but it was tasty as can be. the okinomoyaki (pictured below) was probably my favourite of the dishes I tried. click to see my main dish, kim chi and roe udon. very good.

and greg had:

okonomiyaki n stuff
comments: so I really mixed up this blog post, huh? the pics are wiggly and the links aren't. I'm crazy like that. anyway, if you want a wiggly, here's one. it's bunny. I got to walk her today. I think I might do that more often since greg and nicole will be having their hands full with little Diego.

seafood pancake
from: h-mart
price: $10ish
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: the ramones
comments: i met erin, vivian and donald for lunch today at h-mart. h-mart rules. after, we went to beard papa's for some cream puffs. it's just around the corner from h-mart. click to see it.

and don had:

tuna don?
comments: good to see donald! he seemed to enjoy his lunch. click to see beard papa's new years creampuffs. they advertise that they are the best in the world. they are pretty good... but I hardly doubt they're the best. maybe the best cream puff from a cream puff chain...

and viv had:

tofu soup?
comments: click viv's lunch to see some canadian pride. go canada, eh!

and erin had:

bibimbap!
comments: after lunch, there was some errands to run in chinatown. whilst erin erranded, I took wigglies. like the linked one.

peace and lunch is here to stay

chicken fried steak!
from: deacon's corner
price: $14ish
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: the ramones
comments: last time I went to deacon's corner, I saw the chicken fried steak on the menu, and wanted to try it. but I didn't. but today, I did. the idea of it is better than the actual dish. covering a steak in fried chicken batter and deep frying it sounds amazing. but the steak itself basically tastes boiled or something. not that great. now click to see synchronized gulls practicing for the olympics.

and bill had:

veggie omelet?
comments: I think bill enjoyed his omelet. but he said the hash browns kinda tasted like beer and oranges. the orange would have come from the garnish, but the beer? I noticed that it tasted like they had taco seasoning in them. not bad, but not great. click bill's lunch to see a view of the city from the bridge at the end of main street. this is near where bill (and beier and louisa's) new office is. I stopped by and said hi. they have foos. and dogs. I like those things. it's also a great area to make wigglies. like this one of what looks like a giant audi symbol at stanley park. maybe it's called Audi Park now? damn corporate sponsorship namings! say no to audi park!

hello Diego!

hello!
Diego!
comments: this is a special non lunch-related post because Greg and Nicole created life today!! (today. jan 17th... that's what today is, ok!? nevermind you that the linked pictures are from 2 days in the future!)

and he got to hang out in a:

UV incubator!
comments: so, I don't remember things like baby measurement details, but his name is Diego, and he was born in the morning around 11:30, and I think he weighed just under 7 pounds. you see him here in his incubator which is for the bit of jaundice he seemed to have. other than that, everyone is healthy and fine, and enjoying their stay at bc women's hotel for babies entering earth and stuff. click for wigglies. interesting note... UV incubators make for great black and white photos.

comments: church's chicken is very near to my house. i don't eat it too much, though. half bennies
from: zen cafe
price: $9ish
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: led zeppelin
comments: met greg and russ for lunch today. zen cafe. the best part about the bennies here, is that you can pick any two different benny type for 1 order. and they have many types to choose from. now click my lunch to see some tilt shifty wiggly action.

and russ had:

some bennies, too
comments: click russ's lunch to see a computer. because he is part computer, I think. at least his 3-bar is. i need more foos.

comments: I had lunch with the techop fellas today. click phil's lunch to see an under table shot of him. aw yeah!

and teo had:

banana mancakes
comments: click teo's lunch to see the remnants of the christmas day fire at broadway and kingsway. it seems that this neighbourhood is a magnet for fires.

and dana had:

the alberni benny
comments: click dana's lunch to see the empty lot at broadway and quebec. it's about time it's cleared. that building was sitting there empty for years. years!

and finally travis had:

no success setting up an access point for me on his iphone
comments: and he ate the food pictured here. ok, last wiggly. this one is of my new mirror. my car had no sideview mirror for about a month. this one is new. and I just noticed that it seems to squish everything a bit. oh well. I can see again. you can see where erin works in the wiggly, if you look all the way to the left, behind the traffic lights, in those bright windows.

steamed buns
from: new town bakery (chinatown)
price: free
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: America - sister golden hair
comments: today I went for a good long bike ride. damn... my butt is not used to big long bike rides. I could probably scroll through this blog to find out that it's been many months since I did that. but I did take lotsa wigglies. most of which are olympic-related. it's kinda hard to take photos in this city now without some olympicness to them. click my lunch to see the 5 rings out by stanley park.

and erin had:

steam buns, too
comments: erin was nice enough to bring me lunch today. whoohoo. the buns you see are the 'chicken deluxes'. they are quite delicious. click to see the goofy billboard by the burrard bridge. and at the bottom there, you can see a stockpile of olympic vehicles. gm don't need bailouts, they just need more olympics. maybe they can push for it to be an annual event. ha.

for now I need your hidden lunch

vietnamese subs
from: empress bakery
price: $2.75 each
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: leonard cohen
comments: today I had vietnamese subs. and... oh wait! the bullitt car chase is on tv right now! gotta watch! .... wow. that is clearly the best 11 minutes in film history. why is it so good? I'm not sure. a mustang wins, after all... why would I like that? maybe it's all about the bad guys... because they drive the coolest car on earth? because they never talk whilst driving? because they open windows before shooting at McQueen? because they lose at least 5 hubcaps? or maybe it's because they race past the same green beetle over and over again. or the white firebird. maybe it's lalo shifrin's car chase music, that cuts out right when they decide to stomp on it. I dunno. but I have yet to see a more awesome car chase. and don't tell me Blues Brothers or Ronin or anything else is better. it's not.

and erin had:

no car chase to rant about.
comments: so today's wigglies are just shots from around the city. nothing special.
