Are my ribbons tied? is my hair in place? Have I got a cute expression on my face?

souvlaki pita
from: Pita Pit
price: almost $7
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: ween (the band, not the crazy commenter)
comments: the pita wasn't that great. maybe I should get less stuff in it. the chickeny flavour was quite overpowered by the fixins. but when I order things where they ask what you want on it, I have a hard time not saying "everything". maybe I should work on that.

and vivian dracula had:

a piece of exhaust pipe and some oil
from: Midas brake and muffler
price: under $300
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
comments: vivian dracula started getting real noisy yesterday as the hole in the exhaust pipe grew. so I took it into Midas on 4th and arbutus today. they did a great job. nice and quick, and they didn't try to seel me anything else that I did or didn't need. just the exhasut repair and an oil change. fun.

wake up young man, it's time to wake up

beer n burger
from: the pit
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: mad season
comments: burger was slightly above average his here friday. but that's not what earned this extra high rating. that was due to the kind ATM-repair man who found $20 while moving the ATM and bought us a pitcher with it! nice! not sure why he chose us, but we were rather grateful (after being rather sceptical, that is). viv's possee was grateful for it as well, I reckon.

and jeff, jason and jenna had:
clickyclickyclicky
jeff:
Coconut curry chicken is gooooooooooood. How good? It’s so good that Greg Chan and Jason put a hole in my lunch box.
jason:
burgerrr, veggie burgerrr, cheesesss, fries, ketchup, order mixup, tension, order fixup, relief
jenna:
i had california roll and japanese cream puffs. only $3.95 total. They tastes ok. I wasn't hungry at lunch. Califonia rolls have too much rice though. Cream puffs are very creamy, yummy. Greg Chan tried one puff. He didn't say it was bad, so I assume he liked it too. :)

sushi combo a
from: osaka sushi
price: $6.44 or something
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: Neil Young "cortez the killer" then Built to Spill "Cortez the Killer" non-stop for the past two days.
comments: sushi = good. now click the pic to see the fancy new "combo" sign that they got at Northern Foods.

poutine + big dog
from: Vera's
price: little below $11
rating: &&&&.1/&&&&& [due, mostly, to health considerations]
comments: alexandru says, "vera's has good everything [if you're into burgers] and a decent hotdog selection. The poutine is pretty good compared to other fast-food's offerings so it gets second place for me [between kfc, mcd's, burger king, a&w, my old high-school's caf and Seymour mtn's caf :) ]. The only better one I used to eat was a small pizza and fries joint somewhere by my old high-school but I think they're closed down now. The hotdog was.. well... a hotdog :) But if I'm hungry for a poutine I go to Vera's and so does my little lady friend :)"

I bin searching the whole darn day..

3 items (actually 4) tomato and egg, beans n beef, the fish and some noodley salady
from: Yi Kou Xiang (northern foods)
price: $5
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: robert nesta marley
comments: since yi kou xiang (and the other chinese food places) have stopped honouring customer appreciation cards, I have stopped going there. today broke that boycott. and maybe they had even noticed my lack of business, because the girl graciously offered me a 4th item. some noodley, cucumbery salad. and it was really good. now click the pic to see our newest 'smokey' and the best shirt I have ever seen (for a relatively new hire) in the office.

and vlad had:

Looks like a burger …at least he thought he was getting one :) … Should be one of 2: either Hamburger or Cheeseburger
from: "From the Bbq – “Bakery” in front of SUB"
price: "Can’t tell ..this is a secret …and it’s very expensive burger some what from 3.25 to 4.50 … an hour :P"
rating: &&&/&&&&&
comments: vlad (crazily) said, "It’s hard to rate since I bought it and spent some time walking to the office; -> then I’ve found out about the meeting (which I forgot about) and it had to lie-down on my desk for another hour; -> then I burned it in the “oven” in the kitchen – so after all those experiment (and considering that I was too hungry by then ;)) – I’d give it – 3 (but I think it’s not a bad one). burger – I think a better then a Mc one"

from: Donair Town
price: $5
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
comments: the donair was good. I wasn't all that hungry, though. it's because kim is really leaving today. there were 3 cakes brought in for her! yum. 2 of which... cheesecake! and craig had:

Rendang Beef & Sayur Lemak with Rice
from: Banana Leaf
price: $8.00
rating: BBB.b/BBBBB
comments: Craig is writing this entire comment (Craig is not somebody to be messed with when he speaks about himself in the 3rd person): I forgot about the lunch on Monday. Grrr, Mondays are not my forté. Goodbye Kim! I was told at 11am that I had a dumb 90 minute meeting start at 11:30 today, but fortunately after I realized I had my Monday leftovers in the fridge! It was tasty enough I suppose. It certainly tasted a lot better than the pic looks, but nothing to write home about. I'd like to try it again fresh some day...

roast beouf sandwich with cream of broccoli soup
from: The Delly
price: $6.75
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: pavement
comments: Delly sandwiches are always good. the soup was good, too. but, you know... who was this person who invented cream of broccoli soup?? I mean, I like broccoli, but when I eat it, I don't think... "mmm... this would go great in cream!" it just seems wrong. I don't think I ever dipped my broccoli in my milk growing up. but hey, it works. it's good. now click the pic to see a friend's photography web page.

sushi combo A
from: Osaka Sushi
price: $6.20
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: Uncle Tupelo covering CCR's Effigy
comments: there is sushi somewhere in this pic. deal with it. now, if you choose to click the pic, you gonna see an ancestor of mine. and she was a pirate. a pirate queen, to some. I'm not sure exactly how I'm related, but we've traced the o'malley name (me mom's family name) back a few generations to the west coast of Ireland there. maybe I'm grace's great great great great great nephew or something?

and erin had:

butter chicken bowl and a piece of naan
price: $5.06
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
comments: erin says, "When did the bowl price go up to $3.73?!? However when I asked for less chicken and more sauce, the serving guy did a fanastic job. I had plenty of sauce for my piece of naan and all the rice in the bowl. Yay! However points off for price increases and the sauce tasting not as good as I remembered it as well as my overall" now click the pic to see the tournament that some of us Blackboarders will be playing in this saturday!

comments: this donair was delicious. and the samosa was good, too. thanks, jeff. and the linked pic is from a little f64 photo session we went back to the 70s for. if you like it, here is some more.

and stojan had:

chicken with basmati rice and spring roll
from: hospital cafeteria
price: $6.20
rating: &&&&&+/&&&&&
comments: when I asked stojan how he could possibly rate this meal over 5 he said, "Because it is soooo tasty, chicken is so soft an juicy it melts in ones mouth, tastes like free run bird, and like it is not enough it is covered with honey syrup, perfectly complemented by just right rice with addition of unexpectedly good spring roll. It was very enjoyable, fully satisfied my hunger and didn't make me sleepy after lunch, on the contrary, it boosted my energy and awareness." and then he said, "And no, it's certainly not the best food I've ever eaten in my life, but it might be the best I've eaten on UBC and around." wow. maybe I should go to the hospital sometime? and the linked pic was the blackboard icecream cake we had for some celebratory reason. it was yummy. and not quite that blue, green or blurry in real life.

bacon cheese burger, fries n beer

comments: burgers n beer = blurry pics, yo.

and jason had:

Veggie Burger (-mayo, +cheddar, +mozza) and Fries w/ Beer
From: The Pit
Rating: &&&/&&&&&
Commetns: These veggie burgers are just ok. Without my chosen options, they're less than ok. The fries and the beer make up for the burger's inadequacies, and bring it to a respectable 3/5. The burger I had at The Point in PoMo on saturday, however, was phenomenal, and would get a 5/5. That is all.

comments: I haven't had beefneggonrice lately. in fact, I haven't been to HK Chinese lately. so I was shocked to learn that they have also discontinued use of the customer appreciation cards. bah! what's with that?? I haven't been to Yi Kou Xiang since they stopped allowing them. and now, guess what? that's right. boycott time. at least for a little while. they don't appreciate their customers? then I don't appreciate them, neither. yeah! /end rant. now click the pic to see the new kitties that darcy gog got from the SPCA the other day. meow! the left one sure looks like Hemi.

price: $5.85 (I get discount for having container!)

from: HK Chinese
price: $5ish (I'm guessing)
rating: &/&&&&& (I'm educatedly guessing)
comments: erin had to go to cooking class, so she's not here to give a review. but I know she hated her lunch. the fried rice was dry and flavourless, the beans were burnt and overall, it sucked. again... it was not the main chef. it was the younger chef. she didn't know this before ordering because he was in the back. see the comments for erin's full rant. and click the pic to see the link she wanted me to share today. we actually met one of those longboarders when visiting r. in the 'fax. hoo ha.
