ok, so I eat a lot of butter chicken

butter chicken again
Butter Chicken and yoghurt curry with pakoras, and samosa instead of pop.
from: Curry Point
price: $5.87
rating: &&&.5\&&&&&
listening to while eating: Lonely Soul, by UNKLE
comment: disappointing curry experience today. there was no line there, so I felt I should get curry. 'cuz so often the lineup is huuuuge. so I got my curry, got my card stamped, then Russ was about to pay for his curry, so I slipped him my card to get stamped. and the guy begrudgingly stamped it, but told us how they don't usually allow that. and that it causes them to lose money. lose money??? they charge $5.87 for some rice, 3 or 4 little cubes of chicken, some veggies, naan bread, and curry sauces. and they are always the busiest place in the Village. crazy. I can't believe they'd whine to a regular customer about sharing a stamp card. it's not like Russ didn't buy curry! it's not like he doesn't deserve a stamp, too. so why shouldn't I get it??? This is the kind of thing that makes me like the Hong Kong Chinese place way better. They've stamped my card 3 times in a row before.

Three burgers n beer
from: Dentry's
price: $46.something... 3 burgers, a pop and a pitcher.
rating: &&&&\&&&&&
listening to while eating: Greg, Meg and Greg talking.
comment: Dentry's. an Irish pub/restaurant. decent food. some good specials. my burger was a lamb burger with tzaziki, kalamata olives, and feta. good stuff. Greg got the onion rings. beer batter onion rings. tasty, and not so oily as other places. overall, good lunch. you think it's overexposed and outa focus? NO RULES, MAN!! MY BLOG!!!

SPECIAL BONUS!!! DEEZZERT!!
Today's bonus blog bit o fun is kinda like that mythbusters show. The myth? Coke + Pop Rocks = head explosion. it's not true. it's a myth. although, it's definitely exciting. just have a look at this movie. As you can see, my head is still in one piece. remember, this was done by a trained poprocks master, don't try this at home, kids!

salty fish and chicken fried rice
Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice
from: Hong Kong Chinese
price: $7.44
rating: &&&&\&&&&&
listening to while eating: Time has come today
comment: I love the salty fish and chicken fried rice. it's very expensive, but as you can tell by the photo, you get a LOT of food! That's right, it's 7cm deep. Other dimensions: 20cm wide, 12 cm deep. not enough salty fish in it today, though.

Craig's Lunch
Vacuum Sealed Chicken

Chicken microwaved in sealed tupperware
from: his house
price: n/a
rating: &&&.6/&&&&&
comment: This chicken went through hell. Craig says this chicken was a &&&&.5 when first cooked a few nights ago. But then it was left on a counter, refrigerated, transported, frozen (by accident), vacuum-compressed, decompressed, laughed at, then eaten.

butter chicken and yoghurt pakora
butter chicken and pakora in yoghurt curry with samosa instead of pop
from: Curry Point
price: $5.87
rating: &&&&\&&&&&
listening to while eating: Postal Service
comment: yummy butter chicken. this dish appears a lot in mah belly. so there. Greg also ordered it. and they were much skimpier with his serving. so I traded. cuz I'm not all that hungry today. and with the samosa, I know I'm gonna get full. for a while there they had no samosas, then they had bad samosas. now they're back to good ones. a little note about the picture... I used a camera from an alternate universe. please don't ask how I got it.

Erin's Lunch
Two samosas and chick peas.
Two samosas and chickpeas
from: Curry Point
price: $3.21

3 item combo with rice

3 item combo with rice.
3 item combo with rice (ginger beef, tofu n mushroom, deep fried squid)
from: combo Express
price: $4.82
rating: &&&\&&&&&
comment: generally, I'm not a big fan of Combo Express. In the 4+ years I've worked here, I've only had it twice, and both timez I didn't finish it. the garbage finished it for me. we'll see today, I'm only about half way through, but it's not bad. Although, the ginger beef tastes oddly like sweet and sour. You want good ginger beef? I had some on the weekend at the Golden Great Wall. It was really good. They seem to have good lunch specials, maybe we should have a field trip to there someday for lunch. Or that place on 4th Ave that boasts "The best dry ginger beef in the city"? it's pretty darn good, too.

Eric's Lunch
Beef Congee from the Moon
Beef Congee
from: The Moon (in the SUB)
price: $4.25
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
comment: Eric says it's not the best congee in the world. I think he added lots of soy sauce. fair enough. good price, though. needless to say, if you want really good congee, you probably shouldn't go to the moon. You should go to Kwong Chow on Main St. between 15th and 16th, or Congee Noodle House on Broadway, just west of main.

Thunder Bar!

thunder thunder thunder Thunder Chicken!
Thunder Chicken with onion rings, and beer.
from: the Thunder Bar
price: $21.00 (with pitcher of beer)
rating: &&&\&&&&&
comment: disapponting thunder chicken today. it was not too bad, but the onion rings tasted funny, and I just don't feel very good today. even drinking beer didn't help me feel good. maybe the food was the same as usual (which is pretty good), but me not feel so good. make food taste not so good. and I forgot to take a picture of it. so here's beer.

and jason had

price: n/a
rating: &&&&&\&&&&&

Bob Burnquist's Lunch
Bob Burnquist with spring rolls
Vegetarian Spring Rolls
from: Hong Kong chinese
price: $1.61
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
comment: ok, so maybe Bob isn't going to eat the spring roll. Maybe I am. maybe there's no guest for the guest lunch today. so what? what are you gonna do about it? there's no rules in blogging! anyway, the spring rolls are delicious, and $1.55 seems like a great price for 6 of them. but I remember when I started working here and they were only $1.25. if they were still that price, I'd give them &&&&&.

chicken teriyaki

Chicken teriyaki, beacause Erwin told me to.
Chicken Teriyaki
from: Osaka Sushi
price: $5.62 (I think?)
rating: &&&&\&&&&&
comment: I'm eating chicken teriyaki today, because erwintang told me to. he said it was his favourite village dish. and it's good. very good. the chicken is delicous, and I've never really been a fan of teriyaki. although, he didn't warn me that the carrot may try to steal my Challenger. and as a side note, as I was waiting for my food, a co-op (Michael) was telling us about how he found a live slug in his salad from Osaka Sushi last year. yikes. I checked, no slugs in my teriyaki.

Joel's Lunch
S2
S2 - Sweet and Sour combo.
from: Hong Kong chinese
price: free!!!
rating: &&&&&/&&&&&
comment: Joel gives this dish 5 ampersands, because he didn't have to pay for it. He wanted to give it 7 ampersands, but this I could not allow. The reason it was free was because of the HK Chinese Elite Client Reward Program. Well, that's what I call it. most other people just call it a little card with stamps on it. and I think I might have played with this photo in iPhoto a little too much. oh well.

beef udon.

Gettin' mah food on, with beef udon!
Beef Udon
from: Osaka Sushi
price: $5.62
rating: &&&&\&&&&&
comment: Beef Udon. I love the beef udon. it tastes like home-cookin. good broth, lotsa beef, lotsa noodles. I made this photo all exciting-like. so if you feel like you're moving into the udon, don't worry, it's just the photo. and the cinnamon bun on the left is because today is cinnybun day, and I went to the dentist this morning and had to wait a half hour before eating anything. ack.

Turkey Bacon Guamacole
Turkey Bacon Guacamole
from: Quizno's (w. broadway)
price: $10.69
rating: &&&&\&&&&&
comment: Such a delicious sandwich!! I would be tempted to give it 5 ampersands, but being more than $10, I just can't do that. so much money. so much food, but still... so much money. This photograph was brought to you by Jason's fancy phone.

Special feature!! Meighan's dinner
fishy fish soup
Fishy Fish Soup
from: Tocachi
price: n/a
rating: &&&/&&&&&
comment: this was Jason's friend, Meighan's dinner on the weekend. here's what she had to say about it:
"I went out for sushi and ordered the delux sashimi plate which came with a fish head & tail, which I didn't eat. When the waitress came to take it away she asked if I wanted it made into soup, so I said ok, she brought it back like that (the picture). It actually tasted pretty good, but the teeth were weird, there were a lot of bones, and the eyeballs were sort of gross. "

from: Hong Kong Chinese
price: $5.30
rating: &&&\&&&&&
comment: I don't usually go for the combos here. it was ok. not that great. I'd much rather have beef'n'egg on rice or salty fish'n'chicken fried rice.

BUTTER CHICKEN!!!

BUTTER CHICKEN!
2 Curry Combo - Butter chicken and pakoras in yoghurt curry. with Dr. Pepper and Naan Bread
from: Curry Point
price: $5.87
rating: &&&&\&&&&&
comment: aaah, the butter chicken finally makes an appearance. it is so good. and the yoghurt curry (yellow stuff) is probably my favourite sauce at Curry Point. although, it's too bad they didn't have the special goat curry today. if you ever get a chance, try the goat curry. it's magically delicious.

and Jenna had:
chicken and rice
chicken and rice and salad
from: Jenna's homestay
price: included in rent
rating: n/a
comment: I couldn't use Jason's lunch again because it looks just like Feb 3rd's lunch, but with the curries on the opposite sides. so here's Jenna's lunch. she got it from her homestay host people. it looks good, but not enough food for me.

and Erin had:

Spicy Beef Soup
from: Korean "Spicy" Pork and Chicken place (A-1 Vietnamese)
price: $6.50
rating: &&/&&&&&
comment: It's a very good lunch. however, the packaging needs help. the plastic lid caved in from the heat and the weight of the rice bowl on top of it. This is no good for anyone.
