3 items; spicy beef, veggie with tofu & the fish
from: Yi Kou Xiang/Nothern Foods/that place next to the curry
price: $5
listening to: Toots and the Maytals
comments: not a bad lunch. not spectacular, either. the spicy beef was yummy. the veggies n tofu looked better than it tasted. now click the pic to see the guy I see everyday. this old guy walks along 16th Ave everyday. very slowly. I'm not sure exaclty how far he walks, but I will spot him everyday between Oak and Arbutus.

3 items: egg n tomato, curry chicken & spicy tofu
from: formerly northern
price: $5
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
comments: greg says, "todays lunch was a decent, solid lunch.. for some reason yesterdays was better, ahh it was the fresh fish I would have given that a 4/5 but today is a 3.5 cause the curry chicken was just OK, but the Tofu was good and the Tomato/Egg (eggmato) dish was quite nice. I never thought that egg and tomato would be buttering my muffing.. but here I am ..madly buttered muffin.." now click the pic to see the Great Meat Columns of Donair Town. we also saw both ween and bucket at lunch, but I shall post pictures of niether. rock on.

big fat noodles
from: the Moon (at the SUB)
price: $5.50
rating: &&&/&&&&&

comments: these shanghai thick fried noodles are nicely filling. unfortunately, they are rather flavourless. and they could really deal with more meat n stuff. but I"m full. and nothing stopped me from finishing it. so, not bad. now click the pic to see who we saw at the sub!
and ku had:
tomato and egg

worst. lunch. ever.
3 items; ginger beef, green beans with meat?, deepfried fish
from: My Home Cuisine
price: $5
rating: .5/&&&&&
comments: worst lunch ever. it was just horrible. the ginger beef? all I can say is where's the beef? iyiyi! i think it should have been called thinkly breaded flies in goopy sauce. and the beans were all shrively surrounded by some unknown meat-like bit congealed in more goo (see photo). and last but not least, the df fish. yuck. again, all breadedness, no fish. and soooo dry. I'm sad to say that I threw almost all of it out. I tried to eat.. but it was too hard. and I'll eat anything. now click the pic to see what saved me. jeff brought some delicious baked-tapioca-like dish from some restaurant where the dish must be pre-ordered. it was delicious.
and jenna had:
three items

seafood salad sandwich and lemongrass chicken soup
from: the Delly
price: $7.25
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
comments: this was too much food for me today. it tasted great and all, but I just wasn't that hungry. oh well. plus I think I would prefer the meaty sandwiches from the Delly. the seafood salad is fine, but roast beef is better. now click the pic to see how NOT to give props to an old car. iyiyiy. do they have any idea what fingers in dirt does to the paint? just ask bucket. hahah.
and wuuu had:

price: $8.55
rating: &&&&.6/&&&&&
listening to: clutch
comments: wow. this was a good sandwich. not just good. it was grrrrrrrrrreat! at lunch 3 of us decided to go to best buy. if I don't believe I can, and still say "hear my plan" somebody would follow, just because it's free.
pizza of many flavours
from: panago (from the company)
price: n/a
rating: &&.5/&&&&&
listening to: Steppenwolf
comments: normally I would give the pizza a higher rating because it was free. I love free lunch. but immediately after eating 4 slices, I felt a little off. and I still do. damn panago. it was nice to get for free, though. now click the pic to see the 2nd D1 I got from eBay. this one came with a charger, so I can actually use it. time to sell the old one. and in other news: r. crack VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED!

chicken/beef lunch platter
from: Donair Town
price: $7
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: fleetwood mac (not The Fleetwood MacDaddy - that's Jason)
comments: todday I thought, "bambanaungh, won't you take me to, bambanaungh, Donair Town!?" and who should I see on the way to the Village? already sporting her lunch frmo Donair Town? ween. so I wonder if she enjoyed her donair.. we'll soon find out. I enjoyed mine. the greek salad was yummy. the hummous was good, the pita wasn't anything better than you'd get from safeway, and the meat adn rice was alright. the sauces made it better for sure. it was weird when I couldn't discern between the chicken and beef, though. and it kinda had a weird flavour to it. couldn't quite place it. maybe it would have been better all wrapped up in a donairy thing.
and Vlad had:

3 items: tomato and egg, green beans, and the fish
from: Yi Kou Xiang
price: $5.08
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: Cody ChesnuTT
comments: today was a real good lunch. I actually finished it all! which is the first time I've finished my new container full of Yi Kou Xiang food. the green beans were awesome, adn the tomato and egg was really tasty and fresh, and the fish... well... the fish was the fish. yum. now click the pic to see what happens when I walkover a bridge with my camera in my pocket. wheeeeeeeeee!

rating: &&.5/&&&&&
comments: chris is new to our department today. he comes from upstairs, so many of us already know him. this was his lunch. he didn't hate it. he didn't particularly like it. he wanted to give it a &&.5, but I told him that &&& was my average. he claims that &&.5 is the average. so be it. it just looks so sad to me. now click the pic to see a)what he should have had for lunch and b)the site where I got my awesome new desktop wallpaper.

and there's nothing to get hung about
food
comments: it's curry. I've had it before, I will not review it today. instead, click the pic and see how my camera was breaking today :( I blame kehoe. cuz his camera broke first. he contagioused it. I'm sure of it. and if you click craig's lunch you get to see another office snoozer. you probably don't know him. he's a new guy.
and craig had (review entirely by him):
Super Lamb Donair
From: Donair Town
price: $7.00
Rating: ¥¥¥¥/¥¥¥¥¥
Comments: Oh baby! I know last time I said I didn't need to super size, but I skipped breakfast, and I'm glad I did. I've begun to suspect that I do in fact like donairs. I gave this 4 out of 5 ¥s because I had a powerful yen for a crispy lamby donair. It would have gotten a higher rating, but I think $2.00 is a bit too high of a premium for lamb. It was really, really, good, but not $2.00 better than the crispy chicken donair, which is also really, really good. Next time I'll probably try the beef, but I suspect the chicken is best. And for $4.00 ($5.00 to super-size, but that's a real mitful o' food), it would get very close to perfection. The $7.00 price is still a good enough value that this is probably not my last Super Lamb Donair.
I highly recommend you try Donair Town, it's different from the generic Village formula of saucy-stuff-on-rice, and they've got all sorts of crispy meat-cone goodness (veggie-cone falafel goodness too), not to mention combos, salads, and babaganoush, which is fun, because you get to say: babaganoush!

pizza and saltyfish and chicken fried rice
from: work and ernest
price: free
rating: &&&&&/&&&&&(rice) &&&.5/&&&&&(pizza)
listening to: kool keith + cenobites
comments: today I didn't go out for lunch. there was lots of pizza in the office and I ate that. it was ok. nothing special. but it did mean that I didn't pay for my lunch. hooha! and then I went in the kitchen and could smell saltyfishandchickenfriedrice so I followed the scent to ernest's desk and he gave me some. yum!!!
and daveB had:
A hot and spicy smokey Roll, and a spicy chicken breast sandwich
from: the Delly
price: $7.50
rating: see comments
comments: dave said, "A hot and spicy smokey Roll, and a spicy chicken breast sandwhich from the deli. The hot and spicey smokey roll was mmm mmm good. probably about &&&&/&&&&& and the sandwhich was probably &&.5/&&&&& not as good as usual, it wasn't terribly spicy, and there was more batter than usual on the breaded chicken breast making it a bit tough, and tasted different." now click the pic if you like to see a photo of a jar.

nabeyuki udon
from: Osaka Sushi
price: $5.75+tax
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: BB King - hummingbird.
comments: today I saw Viv standing at the sushi place waiting for her food. so I decided to copy her order. I'd never had it before. it was just like the soggy chicken udon except a)it also had tempura, b)it also had an egg and c) it cost about a buck more. overall, I liked it. more sogginess. mmmm.. and the egg reminded me of someone...
and jenna had:
eggplant, bitter melon with pork, and mixed veggie
from: My Home Cuisine
rating: &&&/&&&&&
comments: jenna wasn't very hungry, she said, so the food wasn't as good as it coulda been. she wanted to give it &&.5, but I told her that kinda means it was bad. whereas &&& means it met expectations without exceding. she said the bitter melon was not as good as when Jeff made it, and she also said, "but bitter melon with pork is supposed to be a good combination.. with maybe some black bean sauce."

double double cheeseburger meal with shake
from: MacDonald's
price: $6.94
rating: &&/&&&&
listening to: talking heads
comments: once again... I'm ot really lovin' it. although this meal tasted good, it stopped me from feeling good. and craig did the math to find out that my meal was about 1500 calories. yikes. now click the pic to see how I felt after my lunch.
and ryan had:
some kinda sushi combo
from: Osaka Sushi
price: $8.01
rating: n\a/&&&&&
comments: ryan will not rate his meal today. this is because he says he feels like a stomach flu is coming on. so he didn't finish eating it. and therefore won't rate it. I'm pretty sure he likes to eat this meal, but feeling sick kinda ruins it. whereas, for me, it was the lunch that made me feel sick. if you click the pic, you will see that it has snowed a wee bit these past two days in the 'couve.

Super Chicken Falafel with side of Greek Salad
from: Falafel Town
Falafel
price: $5.00 because I super-sized the meat ($4.00 regular).
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
comments: Boy that's a lot of meat! I don't think I'd have to super-size my falafel next time. Chicken and beef are the above prices, but lamb is $2.00 for each size. They didn't have lamb so I chose chicken. Chicken was extra tasty and crispy, only the finest cut from the elusive boneless chicken cone native to the Mediterranean. This was a durn tasty falafel, and for $4.00 next time, I'll be more than happy. One downer was that extra toppings like cheese, banana peppers, jalapeno, pineapple, etc were $1.00 each. That's a bit steep for banana pepper, but I didn't miss not having the extras.
craig also had!!!
Greek Salad
Price: $3.00
Rating: &.5/&&&&&
Comments: Taste was mediocre taste at best. I'd have given it &&&/&&&&&, because they made it from scratch without tomatoes for me, but I had to deduct serious points for it being soooo expensive, and so tiny. They had very reasonably priced combos that included a salad almost as big, and they had other salads, so I may try a non-side-type salad. However, the &.5/&&&&& rating is generous, and I'm definitely avoiding it in the future. *glares at the Greek salad*Overall I recommend everybody take a visit to Falafel Town. The falafel was really tasty, and the proprietors were very friendly and accommodating. I felt they really wanted me to have the best lunch experience possible. And really, what more can you ask? Oh yeah, it was pretty slow, but it's their second day, cut them some slack, slack-hoarder.
**note from the editor... those are all craig's words. this was the best guest review I think i've ever had. why, you ask? cuz it's in depth, and more importantly, he formatted it all perfectly! yay craig!

and jacky had:
double hamburger meal
from: MacDonalds
price: he doesn't know, as he got tired of counting his change
rating: &&/&&&&&
comments: jacky had a lot to say about his lunch today. he said, "Typical Junk food from the big M, I woulda give it a 2.5 for it’s 100% all junk contents. But I have to deduct 0.5 from the stupid cashier I encountered. I was ordering the double hamburger deal but he put in the double cheese burger deal. I initially thought it would be a simple fix as: 1: cancel the wrong order and 2: enter a new order. But the stupid clerk just HAVE to make it complicated. He first give me a bunch of coins (about 83 cents or so) that I don’t know what they are (not sure if they are my final changes or not). Then he gave me another bunch of changes (another $3.59 in coins). So, I was looking at 20+ coins in front of me in 2 bundles. I was like, what is all that! And what is going on. Then he pulled out a lengthy receipt and “explained” the first bunch is the difference between the two deals and the second bunch is my initial changes. So, I have so many pennys, quarters, dimes, nickels that he should just give me a loonie. geeeee…. some people just can’t do simple things in simple ways!" now click the pick to see a very funny trip I found online. I want to go on a trip like this someday!!
