you don't need me to show the way, lunch

a burger (and a milkshake and fries)
from: vera's
price: $16ish
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: the beatles
comments: yet another ex-coworker lunch meet up. this time with webcters. it was vivian's last week working downtown, so her, donald, peter, and erin met bill and I. good times. erin got a day off work and ended up having lunch just on the other side of the wall of her work. that was awkwardly wordy. don't read it. just click my lunch.

and vivian had:

a burger
comments: I have no wigglies of my lunchmates today, though. instead, have a click to see hootsuite's favourite baristas.

and don had:

a burger
comments: click don's lunch to see eric and bill battling with their pokemugs! eric's +10 water serpent is dealing some serious damage.

and peter had:

a burger
comments: click peter's lunch to see what I really want. what I really really want.

and erin had:

a burger
comments: bill also ate with us. but I figured you've all seen his lunch enough times. know what you haven't seen enough? wigglies of bill doing goofy things! click for one more.

bonus weekend post

burger, fries n shake
from: lucy's eastside diner
price: $10
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
comments: usually, I won't post lunches from weekends. but this place, I've been wanting to try since it recently opened. this little diner is on main street between 11th and 12th. and here's the best part... it's open 24 hours. nice. it's a pretty tiny place, but they managed to have lots of seats. mostly at the bar, or facing the wall, but they did well. it's also got a great 1950s diner feel to it. from the arborite and chrome tables, to the tiled floor.

and erin had:

the pulled pork sandwich
comments: she liked this sandwich. not as good as Re-Ups, she said, but still very good. we also both really liked the peanut butter and chocolate shake. yum. or yeah, this lunch was actually dinner. ha!

how I'd lunch to be your man

bacon cheese burger
from: moderne burger (west broadway)
price: i forget. $12ish?
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: big audio dynamite
comments: modern burger makes a tasty burger. it's no splitz burger, but it's good. click to see a tilt shifty wiggly I made form zoltan's apartment on the weekend. it's the irish house in the middle of the pic. I went there last week. it's like a big tent with beer. feels like a bzzr garden. want another wiggly? have a look at yaletown

comments: last night, I took some photos for killerX57, aka bucketofbeer, aka brian. the pics were of a kitchen renovation that he did. still working on the big animation, bri. hang tight. but in the meantime, click my lunch to see a wiggly of the kitchen.

and dave had:

a blueberry sundae
comments: I met dave at lunch today. of course this meant a visit to the office, and the roof of the office. click to see how far along they are with olympic village. wiggly wiggly.

every little bit, every little big, every little bit of my lunch

burger shots
from: burger king
price: $7 for a combo with 4 burgers
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: led zeppelin
comments: these burgers are very tiny. but here they look gigantic because toki wartooth appears life size. or not. click to see a very cool bear. he's chillin.

and the wrapper had:

eating instructions
comments: these little burgers were kinda disappointing. cute, sure, but boring. this wrapper explained how to separate them before eating. click to see a kaleidoscope-like pic shot through a glass block.

your lunch gets sweeter everyday

angus burger
from: mcdonald's
price: $10ish with shakenfries
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: finley quaye
comments: today was a special day. my sister turned 40! happy birthday, shari!! I also went to the dentist to get a filling. that's not as much fun. but having a frozen face is always interesting. click to see a zoomed pic I took of cypress and some downtown buildings.

and jacky had:

some meats n rice
comments: jacky doesn't know I took a photo of his lunch. sneaky. click it to see travis's hair gone wild.

I believe in one lunch

swiss mushroom steakhouse burger
from: BK
price: almost $10 with shake n fries
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: smashing pumpkins
comments: this burger was not so good. I'm not sure why they call them steakhouse burgers. they're just normal meat but bigger than the bun. lame. click to see a shot I took on the weekend with craig's awesome D90! erin also snapped this wiggly of a taxi at denman and georgia. I got no idea how that cab ended up there, but it looked very recent.

and yvette had:

Argo's mashed potatoes n spinach salad
comments: today we got a new airconditioner for our server room put on the roof. it'll be nice not having the temp units pumping hot air into the office and sounding oddly like a zoo. click to see the crane as it was putting the unit on the roof. or you can look at these fake porsches that were posing on main street.

for your lunch, I'd give you everything and more and that's for sure

angus burger combo
from: McDonald's
price: $9.12
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: the yardbirds
comments: they say cats want cheezburgers. but the way nikita stared at me, throughout my lunch, I'm thinking it's the goggies who want teh cheezburgers. click to see that happening. or, have a look at the drool. funny thing about that... if you take a photo of dog's drool, to make fun on them... they will simply sneak under your desk and get all that drool on your leg. you've been warned. wish I had.

and dave had:

a southwest burger from triple o's
comments: dave came up with this ingenious plan of filling the onion ring in his burger with ketchup. this let him dip his fries in the pool, then eat the ketchupified burger. and in other news, giant chunks of the Opsal Steel building has collapsed with the weight of all the snow. click dave's lunch to see that, in simulated action. of course this meant that when sumant and I went to the roof, and tried to throw snowballs into the hole. we were each fully successful once. here's proof that we hit the target. I know. I coulda photochopped that, but I didn't. it's the real deal. you can also see about 9 of our missed shots in this pic.

are you ready for a thing called lunch?

angry whopper
from: burger king
price: $10ish for me combo
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: john hiatt
comments: I think this is my favourite burger from BK now. the jalapenos make it great. although, the dude didn't listen so well and gave me fries instead of rings. we took Louise with us, and she seemed to like the snow quite a bit. click to see how nice the roof looked before we started walking on it.

and neil had:

original chicken or something
comments: click neil's lunch to see sumant posing on the roof. that picture is not nearly disturbing as this one. yikes.

and I am numb from watching tv

angus buger combo
from: mcdonald's
price: under $8 with a coupon
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: For Squirrels
comments: hi. click to see the roof top hatch. nothing special.

and neil had:

a stack o burgers
comments: click neil's stack to see a sign we saw. this sign has no asterisk. so, as far as truth in advertising goes, if you just march in there and demand free gas, wouldn't they have to give it to you? there's no mentioned stipulation that you have to buy a car. then again, there's no stipulation that says they can't just give you 2 ml of gas. or take a swig of gas and spray it in your face. or simply fart at you. so really, it's probably best to avoid the whole place.

and remick had:

some dodgy looking fruit.
comments: click remick's fruit to see andy's new helmet that I think he's already ready to return.

and I think my spaceship knows which way to go

bacon cheeseboigah
from: triple o's
price: free!
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: natalie merchant covering bowie
comments: quite kindly, our dev manager guy bought the dev team (yes, this includes QA!) lunch today at white spot. we sat out in the sun, thinking this may be one of the last times to do such a thing this year. sad. click to see noel and his shake shaking.

and sumant had:

a chicken burger
comments: click to see the dev team eating in the sunshine. the best part of that gif is sumant and his mad mastications.

and peter the pigeon had:

bits of burger bun off my shoe
comments: the stupidity of pigeons make them quite awesome. this little dude was eating fries outa my hands while the seagulls and crows skulked and yelled from a safe distance. click to see peter in all his glory.

and I did not eat:

white rabbit candies
comments: if you're like me, and rarely follow the news, here's an article that explains why I'm not eating the melamine 'enhanced' candies today. this is the only time dave's had such candies in his jar, and this is the time they are POISSON! er... poison.

price: $8ish
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: kris kristofferson
comments: hadn't been to burger king in a while. now I have. click to see those awesome Chargers again. or you can look at jason in the paper.

and dave had:

a king supreme burger
comments: my steakhouse burger was pretty funny cuz the patty is so big, but the bun's no bigger. click dave's lunch to see his king supreme compared to my steakhouuuuse. crazy.

and tommy had:

2 fish sandwiches
comments: yikes. tommy's crazy. click to see a strange gif from the car show. it looks like cobra commander saw right through that fake beard. didn't see what happened after, he just quietly followed him off.

bonus video!

so these guys we met in langley are kinda stunt men. that guy in that video is also the guy in this video doing the flip on the snowmobile at the beginning. crazy.

another industrial ugly morning

"loaded" steakhouse burger
from: Burger King
price: $8ish
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: the police
comments: after seeing Darren have one (below), I had to try BK's new Steakhouse burger. but I tried the one with mashed potatoes in it. kinda weird. kinda good. but not that good. doesn't come close to mcdonalds' angus burger. no no. click my lunch to see 3 little gulls up on a rooftop. after watching 5 young gulls hopping on the rooftops across the lane (must've been their first trip from the nest, couldn't quite fly yet), I went up on our roof to find that there were 11 young gulls on the neighbouring buildings. this explains why they've been so edgy when I visit the roof lately. still, I couldn't spot any nests. odd.

and darren had:

unloaded steakhouse burger.
comments: I think the non-loaded one is probably better. they both come with these little fried onion bits. pretty good. but not great. and for that price? get an angus burger. click darren's lunch to see some shiny balls I sawr. and in other news, a LATV viewer starts a ska band

and john had:

something similar
comments: click john wu's lunch to see Tommy showing us how he can levitate. tommy got skillz.

and craig had:

surprise surprise, a burger.
comments: click to see everyone putting Tommy's levitation technique into practice. oh, and it turns out that making 3D gifs is not just as easy as having two cameras and hoping the pics line up. tricky stuff, I say.

and meanwhile, many navarikers had:

hot dogs
comments: as many people in the company had also done, I forgot that we were having a back alley bbq today :( and had made plans with the ex-webcters. oh well. click to see some peeps hanging by the bbq with master chef nathan.

what is... just is.

angus burger n such
from: McD's
price: just under $10. yeah. $10 for a mcdonald's meal. bizarre.
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: Lamb.
comments: the angus burger is still delicious. in the linked photo today, I present a giant crane moving behind the city. the gif is rather big, so it'll take a while to load. this crane is very interesting. it's vancouver's newest AND largest. it can move 2 containers at once, while all our other cranes only move one. they had to wait for the lowest of tides to move it under the Lion's Gate. a dude from navarik got photos of this from somewhere downtown. crazy!

and neil had:

spag'n'meat.
comments: click's neil's lunch to see a cute little morris minor I saw across from mcdonalds. it's for sale. someone buy it and be cute, k?

and sumant had:

his regular overload of watery vegetables.
comments: click on Sumant's lunch to see him and neil lunchin' it up there, boss. also note how neil uses his jedi mind trick to pick up his coke. talk about lazy. oh, one other thing I meant to link to. this vehicle makes me upset with its mislabeling. Bmx??? b? the b stands for bicycle! I see 3 wheels! it's a TMX, plain and simple!

comments: at lunch today, I took nikita for a walk on the new sea wall. fancy stuff. click to see the fancy bridge they made at olympic village.

and remick had:

some rice stuff
comments: click remick's lunch to see a mysterious wiggly. what is it? huh? what? I'll tell you something about it, I took it at 1/10000 sec shutter speed. that's what my new camera hack can do. so useful, huh? If you're wondering what daylight looks like at that speed, have a out the window. (I had to really crank up the shadows to see anything in that). fun.
