lunch in Cheticamp on the Cabot Trail

seafood chowder and poutine
from: Hometown Kitchen, Cheticamp, NS
price: about $11
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
comments: after touring Cape Breton Island all day and finding the best load ever of skipping stones EVER, we had lunch in this restaurant. it was quite good. the mussels were way better than the ones we had the previous night. actually, the whole meal was better than the crappy meal we had the previous night in Ingonish. this lunch in Cheticamp brought us back to good meals, which was very welcome.

and r. had:
hi
trout dinner
from:
price: $8.99+tax
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
comments: the trout was a little overcooked, but aside from that, very tasty. no dairy products were harmed in the making of the mashed potatoes. which seemed to be the trend on our maritime tours. the mashed potatoes always seem to be potatoes. mashed. and that's it. no butter, no milk, no smoothness. except for at our all-you-can-eat rib dinner. that dinner was a bit much, but the potatoes were awesome. and the drive home was rather eventful, too. since some guy got his leg knocked off by a car (scroll to bottom of page), and r. and I tried to get a highway full of stopped cars to turn around and drive out backwards. that was a very interesting night.

I don't think the potatoes were actually mashed, they just seemed to be carved from the middle of a baked potato with an icecream scoop. at least some of them (tomorrows fish dinner for lunch) were tasty PEI potatoes. but that'll have to wait for tomorrow.
