from: office
price: free
rating: free
listening to: free
comments: today we had a small pumpkin carving and costume contest in the office. and pizza. click to see the winning pumpkin, which, I'm proud to say, I was the inspiration for! me and my endless hunger for power pellets and ghosts.

and everyone else also had:

comments: my pumpkin was great in concept, but weak in execution. there's no wiggly of it. :( my costume, however, was awesome. but I did not win that contest, either, cuz I was just using last year's costume. here's a pic of all the costumes and here's me getting beat up by a mexican wrestler. click the pizza to see all the punkins.

I've longed for lunch. Like everyone else does.

double whopper combo, with rings and shake
from: burger king
price: just under $10
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: Bob Seger
comments: hadn't had burger king in a long while. I think I remember why now. click to see a cool looking building. I think they make movies in there. but really couldn't find much about the company on the internet, so I kinda wonder what kind of movies...

and some pumpkins had:

to throw up
comments: no guest lunch today. but look, it's almost halloween! click to see 2 of these pumpkins wiggly. I could get all three of them looking right as a wiggly. oh well.

clad in black, don't look back, and I lunch you

pork chops n eggs
from: nice cafe
price: $7ish
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: T-Rex
comments: the pork chop was good. I recommend a toothpick after. click to see them putting a roof onto a brand new structure over at olympic village. I hear that whole seawall in front of the village will be blocked off to the public starting this weekend, ending after the olympics. lame. I hate it when they block off public areas that I like to go to.

and travis and dana had:

comments: click this lunch to see a wiggly just like the one under my lunch. except this one is a much wider shot. is that still too much of the same for ya? then go look at this autumn scene.

and phil and teo had:

the 'super' omelette
comments: these guys didn't share their lunches. they just happened to have the same thing. woulda been more romantic if they shared, I agree. click to see a sausage pipe face.

and phil had:

some subs, too
comments: click phils lunch to see some of the trucks U2 is using for their world tour. you may have heard about how they're getting a lot of flack for their carbon footprint from this tour. well, seeing all these trucks, I can confirm one thing... there are A LOT of trucks. anyone going to see them?

saltspring lamb burger
from: splitz grill
price: $10ish
rating: &&&&&/&&&&&
listening to: elvis
comments: erin really wanted to meet the cheat. so we met bill for splitz burgers. I honestly haven't had a burger this good since this last time I went to splitz. so good. click to see a wiggly I took of the city.

and bill had:

the lentil burger
comments: someday, maybe I'd like to try this lentil burger that bill speaks so highly of. but since that would mean not having the lamb burger, it's out of the question. click to see bill's house.

and erin had:

a lamb burger, too
comments: the cheat is awesome. erin concurs. click to see her taking a photo of the cheat. oh, and if you don't believe in the cheat's awesomeness, just watch this video

sunday bonus lunch!

full english breakfrast
from: The Diner (4500 block of W. 10th Ave)
price: $8
rating: &&&&&/&&&&&
comments: generally, I don't post what I eat on the weekend. but this was just too great. I haven't had a full english fry up breakfast since I was in england, really. and this place nails it. the fried bread!! wow. they do breakfast, lunch and dinner. all in ye olde british fayre. I don't know how I've never noticed this place, since they celebrated their 50th year.

and greg and erin both ordered:

the 'full' breakfast
comments: you could really taste the buttermilk in these pancakes. and the server was an older women with enough sass, class and manners to make this brunch a very british experience. good times. again, I hadn't been called "luv" so much since I was in england 10 years ago. wow. 10 years. yikes. click to see erin taking some pictures.

and with a lunch like that, you know you should be glad

jack daniels burger special
from: original joe's
price: $12.99
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: the beatles
comments: I never tried this original joe's place before. it's at cambie and broadway. it was alright for pub grub, but not cheap. the burger was pretty good, except that it was one of those pre-fab patties. and the pint special was nearly five bucks. not very special, says I. I don't think I need to say that Splitz burgers are way better. click to see a harris shutter wiggly shot out the window. here's another harris-shutter but it just wasn't wigglyable.

and teo had:

the special with different sides
comments: one thing that was good about the special is that you got 2 sides with it. fun. click teo's lunch to see a 50s pick up that I saw on the way.

and phil had:

the special. we all did.
comments: click phil's lunch to see a white mushroom.

and dana had:

the special, of course
comments: click dana's lunch to see some red mushrooms.

pho, yo
from: Pho Le
price: about $10 with my lychee blended drink
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: nazareth
comments: a long long time ago, we had a jam space with a dart board. sigh. I miss that jam space. but anyway, in a game once, toby was shooting for bullseye with 4 darts. click my lunch to see where his darts landed. pretty crazy toby.

and hey ritchie had:

a vermicelli dish
comments: so I met hey ritchie for lunch. we saw this tractor messing with the fake field. not sure exactly what he was doing. combing it? oh well. on the walk back to work I saw this cormorant. now click the pic to see the olympic village people getting their rainbow cloud generator up and running.

lunching, watching, working, sleeping, driving, walking, talking, smiling

from: adobo burrito (broadway near cambie)
price: $10 with drink
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: Air - people in the city
comments: I had never tried this burrito place. now I have. meh. it was alright, but not all that great. click to see some wiggly god beams.

and phil had:

same as me
comments: although phil added cheese to his burrito (50 cents), it all cost him over a dollar more than I paid. I think they undercharged me. I rolled with it. click to see a door we saw in an alley. very subtle wiggling.

and travis had:

a different burrito
comments: click travis's lunch to see what I think was a paint colour test board. took me a minute to figure that out.

he's got something to lunch for

banana pancakes with egg n bacon
from: Nice Cafe
price: $7.45
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: barney bentall
comments: last night, I went and did some night photography with hey ritchie and hey erin. you can see ritchie's photos in his flickr. of course, I modified mine lots more. like taking the background out of this linked photo. go now, click it. next time I go, I'm gonna take a lens that I can focus better. then I'll avoid this.

and teo had:

banana pancakes, too
comments: when I eat pancakes, I tend to put peanut butter and syrup on them. so I thought banana pancakes would be amazing in this fashion. but they weren't really. it was good, but I think plain pancakes with PB n S is actually better. the banana makes just too much going on. click to see a harris shutter wiggly that has teo in it. barely.

and dana had:

the alberni benny
comments: click dana's lunch to see a very suspicious bag that we saw on the way to lunch. with vancouver's new police state starting up, maybe this was a test for them?

and travis had:

a lot of bacon salt on his eggs
comments: click travis's lunch to see a cool old toyota pickup ┬┐truck? that was parked out front of Nice Cafe. I really like that the tree on the mirror matches the paint.

as I walk along I wonder what went wrong with our lunch

red curry beef
from: the papaya hut (burrard and 8th)
price: $7ish
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: Del Shannon
comments: I met greg and erin for lunch today. we tried this thai place we never had before. it was pretty good. I recommend for a tasty cheapish lunch. click to see a pic from the 6 car accident that stopped traffic on the lions gate for many hours on saturday.

and erin had:

a tofu dish
comments: I liked the curries better than this dish. click to see a non-wiggly, yet animated pic of the accident. this is just me playing with harris shutter without wiggling. still a cool effect, I think. the lights on the emergency vehicles are the best.

and greg had:

green curry
comments: click greg's lunch to see why I'm liking my Ricoh HDR camera more and more. most cameras would have blown out those clouds to pure white. in fact, setting up the shot, it looked like it would be all blown out, but no. this camera is cool like that. and how about this one. the colours are just so punchy and fun, no?

and the last thing she said was 'I lunch you mom'

chicken kimchi fried rice
from: the clubhouse
price: $7ish
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: tom waits
comments: very good kimchi fried rice. I like it lots. this weekend (yes, I know this is only a friday post) I went to stanley park to try and make some interesting harris shutter wigglies with all the rain. click to see to coolest rainbow rain gif that I got from it.

and bill had:

some veggie combo
comments: click bill's lunch to see the awesome rainbow I saw whilst trying to make rainbow-rain photos in stanley park. yeh. the rain stopped. I can't complain about that. it turned into a great day while I was there.

and chris had:

the sekiwaki combo
comments: while at stanley park, I ended up taking about 300 photos in an hour. crazy. I made many gifs. click chris's lunch to see a movie I made with all those photos. you see those accident pics? yeah. 6 cars, crashy crashy. the bridge was shut down for hours, and I just happened to walk on it that day. nice. I'll link to some of those gifs on monday's post.

I want so badly to believe that there is truth, that lunch is real

vietnamese subs
from: Bale
price: $2.75 each
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: postal service
comments: today I read about this interesting photography technique called the Harris Shutter Effect. you can see some cool examples of it on flickr. but for now, click my lunch to see a harris shutter wiggly!!! the first in the world? I doubt it. basically, what it does it makes still things look normal and things that move between the exposures get rainbowy colours. fun!

and dave had:

sushi, from sushi e
comments: click dave's lunch for another harris shutter wiggly. so, my usual wigglies take 2-4 photos, right? those new ones took 9 photos. each frame of the wiggly is 3 photos. good thing I don't use film. but I also found a tricky way to take my regular 3 frames, add the effect, and then wigglize. here's am example of that. doesn't seem quite as good, but maybe it's just the content. I will be playing with that.

and tommy had:

a chickeny sandwich
comments: for some more variations on this effect, click tommy's sandwich. this wiggly simply has 1 frame that's been all rainbowed up. expect a lot more of these photos. you know, once I learn a new technique, I'm a gonna milk it until everyone hates it! like this one which is kind of a harris effect, tilt shift(ish) wiggly. I'll try to shoot that in IR next time. ha.

where is this lunch to make me cry out for more?

salted fish and chicken fried rice (and a noodle dish)
from: gold stone (in chinatown)
price: about $17 for all
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: the payolas
comments: I met ritchie for chinese food today. the gold stone is that place with the most awesome uniforms you ever seen. I tried to take some stealthy photos of the uniforms but no good ones. click to see a chinatown parking lot all wiggly.

and this was:

the noodles
comments: yep. noodles. the food here is good. not crazy awesome or anything, but better than The Boss, I think. click to see the rainbow that happened later in the afternoon. I titlshifted it. why? dunno. just did.

meanwhile, back at the office, chris had:

ciabatta from the Swiss Bakery
comments: click chris's lunch to see the dewatering barges by science world. after reading the wiki page about dewatering, I'm still not sure what they are doing there. perhaps cleaning the toxins buried in the dirt under false creek? I'm really not sure.

cold ramen noodles
from: menya
price: $8ish
rating: &&&&.4/&&&&&
listening to: Ottawan (hands up baby)
comments: went to menya. it tastes good. click to see phil's ramen with fresh garlic. this wiggly was too good and big to use on this page. go see it on flickr

and teo had:

comments: menya has, I think, 2 halloween decorations up. here's one of them. now click on Teo's lunch to see the new(ish) sign they put up in the olympic village area. on that red building. see it? you're brand new, you're retro.

and travis had:

rating: &&&&&/&&&&&
listening to: modest mouse
comments: I did not really eat lunch today. I just snacked in preparation for thanksgiving turkey. it was delicious. real yum. click to see piiiieee....rrot!

I did not have:

comments: these were greg's ribs this weekend. poor fella. click to see a hemi cuda wiggling. ok ok. it's just a toy. I was playing with my bellows for my d40. these bellows, they don't tilt at all. boo. oh well. good day, sir.

misguided angel, lunch you 'til I'm dead

meat lovers omelette
from: Nice Cafe
price: $7ish
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: cowboy junkies
comments: breakfast for lunch again. same ol thing, yah. but later on, I tried to invent a new taste sensation. I call it peanut butter coffee. it was a fail. turns out that the oily bits of peanut butter to not dissolve in coffee. it wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't make it again. click to see an interesting personals-like ad I saw on the ground.

and teo had:

banana pancakes
comments: teo is obsessed with the banana pancakes. maybe I should get it next time. see if the hype is real. now click the pancake for maybe the awesomest wiggly you will see all week.

and dana had:

the alberni benny
comments: dana ate this. now click it is you like scooters and red walls.

and phil had:

same as me, but with coffee
comments: click phil's lunch to see an unrelated pic from sun yat sen gardens.

Makin' lunch fo the gators in the swampin'

hawt dawgs
from: work!
price: free!
rating: &&&&/&&&&&!
listening to: ween; voodoo lady
comments: today, the company bought us all lunch after our in-office-mini-golf tournament! good times. I managed to tie (with travis) for first place. we had more points than everyone else! yah! however, the people with the lowest scores seemed to get the prizes. I don't understand that. you don't see NBA players or bowlers getting trophies for _low_ scores. bah. whatever. click to see the hole at my desk area. the blue bins are water traps. the hole is beyond the table in the distance. dave did a great job designing this hole for us.

and jacky had:

a fork in his mouth
comments: not all day, though. I think at one point he took the fork out. click to see the putting green nearest his desk.

and noel had:

his bun in the oven
comments: ok, his bun was actually in the paninini grill. I was all like 'whoah... where's your bun mr. atkins??' and he was all like 'in the grill'. and I was all like 'oh'. click to see more golf course. there were 9 holes altogether. and it was a lot of fun. I highly recommend this activity for any office. every day, even.
