I dream. At night.

burgerry goodness
from: triple o's
price: $10.24
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: grandaddy
comments: good lunch. and when I left lunch, I saw this mirror in the alley. so, of course, I made wiggly gifs. not sure if I mike the one linked above better, or this one

and remick had:

something from home
comments: click to see a gwiggly gif I call 'sky work ahead'. or at least that's what I call it right now. funny thing, one of the pics I took for that, I think I was spotted by a butterfly guy who really wanted to be in the pic.

and tony had:

a great triumph!
comments: tony got a bike. a really cool bike. not like andys or phils. more like steve mcqueen's. click to see it a-wigglin. or you can look at it statically still right here. nice, huh? I'm no bike-guy, but if I was, this is the sorta ride I'd want. purty.

I was feeling kinda seasick, the crowd called out for more.

vietnamese subs
from: Bale
price: $8.75 (for 3)
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: procol harum
comments: I tried different subs today. and I learned that the meatball and shredded pork ain't that good. but the dac biet is. it's basically the cold cut sub with double meat. so I know what I'm getting next time. click to see the giant robot buildings quivering just before they transform and destroy the city.

and remick had:

sushi combo from kishu island
comments: I don't really understand the ad in the linked photo. I mean, I understand if you're gonna name an old man "Arthritis" but why name a kid "Joint Pain"? and why should I say goodbye to them. I don't know them. and from that photo, I can't tell if they're coming or going, so maybe I should be saying hello?

and beier had:

comments: beier was not impressed with the quality of this sashimi. I think I already knew that Kishu Island is not the best place to get something like that. but beier learns the hard way. click to see city hall with some real subtle wigglies.

and there will always be a place in my parking lot

egg salad sandwich and spinach salad
from: Solly's
price: $10.24
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: the stones
comments: disappointing trip to solly's today. to find out that they jacked up their prices. bah. my usual sammich n salad was up to $11.75 + tax. aiyuh. who can live like that? me. but I didn't wanna. instead I went for the price range where my pastrami used to exist. this time I chose egg salad. last time russ had egg salad people asked him if he just came from an old folks home. ha. funny. click to see a wiggly pic, and I give 50 points to the first person who can tell me wher eI took it from.

and the salad was:

the best part.
comments: at least their spinach salad is still awesome. oh yeah, that sandwich was really not that great. click to see me niece and nephew who I got to see on the weekend.

tellin' tall tales of how it used to be

from: Splitz Grill
price: $10ish for combo
rating: &&&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: Zep
comments: epic adventure to Splitz grill today. and today is friday. ok, yvette? on my way home from work today, I got about halfway, and noticed everyone staring and pointing towards downtown. so I looked back and saw tons of smoke. of course this just meant I had to get onto the roof at work. so I went back and did that. in the linked gif you see the smoke about which I spoke. also when I got home, I googled it to see what it was. once again, the news pages weren't very helpful, but of course I was able to find great pics of the fire on flickr, my source for the freshest news!

and bill had:

a lentil burger.
comments: lentil and burger are not words I generally use in the same sentence, but it sure looked pretty good, and with baba ganouj as a sauce, it probably was. mmm... baba ganouj... click to see the strange arrow someone cut out of a laurel leaf. strange thing to find.

and with his burger, andy had:

comments: click to see my fat cat.

comments: I met hey ritchie for lunch. he rode a bike. this bike has a fixed gear bike. he'll go velodroming. but in the meantime, he gets giffed!

aw move over, rover

samwich, fries n shake
from: swiss bakery et mcdonalds
price: too hard to do the maths
rating: &&&/&&&&&
listening to: jimi
comments: today's lunchtime excitement began when phil chased us on the way out the door and said there was another fire at burger king. we didn't know that wade had seen 10 foot flames and called the fireguys. when we were on the roof, it just looked like another whopper wednesday. average amount of smoke. but there was whopper makers amongst the smoke, then the fireguys all showed up. so, of course, we left the roof and went to get whoppers. but oddly, they were closed. we could smell the smoke that didn't just smell like burgers. more like a real fire-smell. anyway, I couldn't get my whopper. but, hey, I made a movie of it all:

would you like to learn to fly? would you like to see me try?

sushi fun!
from: the clubhouse
price: treat for working OT
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: luther wright and the wrongs
comments: dave had the company buy a few of us lunch today, because of some surprise OT. thanks dave! click that pic of the holy roll to see what lives on neil's desk. I should warn you... your brain may explode if you look at it for over 30 seconds.

and there was also:

lots of sashimi.
comments: click it to see to see the old webct office. I kinda went crazy mixing the gif-style, and the miniature toy style. oh, also I'd like to say... hey bruce cockburn, here they are! and I'm wondering if he's still wondering now.

and also at the clubhouse was:

comments: click him to see what I consider the best condition for any ford. zingu!

and here's a special bonus danger lunch:

ma-POW! tofu
comments: while I ws in the kitchen today, darren was microwavering his lunch. I think he microwaved to intensely, because it cracked his bowl in half. crazy. it didn't actually come apart, though. he was able to remove it and dump it into a new bowl. and if I see him at work on wednesday, I'll know that he didn't eat any shards of glass by accident. although, I did tell him to google 'glass eating' just to quickly learn the technique... in case.

hey a pig is an animal with dirt on his face

vietnamese sandwiches
from: Balle
price: $2.75 each
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: sinatra
comments: eventful weekend last weekend. we went to visit the the weeks' house where we got to hang with lil sophie. and the next day was the camera swap meet, where I got a sweet f1.8 lens. this will change nothing on this blog. except there will be MORE wiggly gifs and sharper focus and much shorter depths of field.

and tommy had:

a wrap
comments: I think I commented enough above.

the fruit is calling from the trees

lotsa food
from: Congee noodle house.
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: Cracker
comments: today we said 'later dude' to a coworker. ron is gone. andy was shocked to hear about this. but anyway, the lunch was good, and the drinks after work were great fun. if you click the top lunch there, you will see 2 things: 1) it snowed. 2) don't make wiggly gifs whilst intoxicated.

here's more food. you can click it if you wanna wave buybuy to Ron.

and this strange document shredding truck warned us...

of men dropping from the bukkits.
comments: well yeah, there was a falling man. good thing we were clear of the chute. and thus emerging from from pure data... it's bill monkman!

ladies and gentlemen... the baconator

from: wendy's
price: just under $6
rating: &&&&&/&&&&&
comments: ok, maybe this burger doesn't deserve a perfect rating, cuz really, it's still a fast food burger, and it lacks things like veggies. ALTHOUGH... this thing has 6 slices of bacon. and that alone gets a perfect rating. and if you reaaally like meat, this burger is for you. I could feel my arteries slowing with each bite, but I couldn't stop. actually, what made it perfect was the spiciness. looks like a lot of jalapenos, no? but they weren't really that hot. just tasty-spicy. so good. and I won't even mention that I also had a sushi combo from Sushi Boy, cuz that would just be gluttony.

and louise had:

bacon, too!
comments: today was an all bacon day. shouldn't every day be a bacon day? you can also watch the video below to see just how much she loves the bacon. and click above to see a wiggly gif of the Radical building where Ed is. and as a lesson in wigglys, you can compare that wiggly gif to this one which is made from the same jpgs, but just aligned differently. I know no one cares about this, but garrett does. so this is for him.

green curry
from: pad thai (mealextreme delivery)
price: $7
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: commander cody
comments: good curry. click to see the wall that I showed you last week. yeah. that's right, the landlords bowed to the city and got rid of that awesome graffiti. so lame.

and remick had:

some veggie dish
comments: do not click remick's lunch. just don't. dont' do it. no, really stop.

from: sweet basil cafe (that green building)
price: $6.25
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: bob marley
comments: good lunch. and pretty cheap, too. click to see the great cars I get to walk by everyday.

running like you're running out of time

a mango mango roll and donburi
from: sushiyama
price: $12?
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: kris kristofferson
comments: dave and I met gregchan for lunch. fun. and sushiyama was as good as usual.

and dave had:

a lunch combo box
comments: click to see science world (I think) all wiggly. as if you haven't seen this before.

and greg had:

same as me, but different flavours.
comments: this photo is probably my lunch. greg's lunch photos didn't turn out as well, but we had almost the same thing anyway. click to see a non wiggly photo. yah, that's right. I didn't wigglize it. I tried, but 2D images just don't wiggle very well.

truth don't look that good on me

bbq beef special
from: Choon Ha Choo Dong Korean Restaurant (36 E. Broadway)
price: $7 ish
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: soundgarden
comments: today we stayed on the same east/west block as our office and my home. but we went to broadway. the food was really good, but the service was a bit lacking, as 2 busloads of tourists came in while we ate. maybe if they had another server, it wouldn't have taken as long as it did. click to see some posers leaning against a wall near the restaurant.

and andy had:

a stone bowl special. beef n mushroom?
comments: click to see a photo that may contain the restaurant. I'm not sure. that's form the roof of our office looking south. I'm not sure if the building near the middle is the restaurant or the back of ATIC.

and remick had:

comments: click to see broadway traffic. I'm so glad I don't commute to work. so glad.

and tommy had:

same as andy, I think
comments: here's a non-wiggly pic of those posers and the wall. amazingly, this was a wall of a closed down billiards hall and there was a city-posted notice on the door stating that they had to get rid of the graffiti or the city would hire someone to, and the owners would have to pay. sometime this city pisses me off. they should be paying the owners for having such cool graffiti in their city! not adding insult to injury.. oh, you went out of business? well... hire some graffiti removers. bah!

what happens in the in between?

red beef curry
from: Pad Thai
price: $7 (with mealextreme's surcharge)
rating: &&&.5/&&&&&
listening to: urge overkill
comments: ok, I'm going gif crazy. it's a fact.

and meal extreme had:

something with tofu
comments: mealextreme is what I call carl. cuz he always offers to deliver me lunch from pad thai. for a mere 75 cent delivery charge. it's great for those gloomy days where it's hailing, raining and windy all over the city. if you click his lunch, you can see how nicely it cleared up later in the day.

when I'm away she puts her makeup on the shelf

from: Thai Son
price: I forget
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: weeezer
comments: today I met some old friends for lunch. mike lee and jason bone. fun. rumour has it that I'm going to be singing for mike lee's 'rock band' in a competition at tom lee. this saturday? next saturday? probably the latter. my main concern is that there will be kids in this contest, and you know... you can't beat kids at video games. fact. click to see the empty lot beside my office.

and j.bone had:

lemon grass chicken
comments: click to see city hall getting jiggly. something very exciting has changed in this blog, but it's subtle. thanks to a conversation with Garrett, I learned that I can host my jiggly gifs at flickr. fun. I'll be doing that now. I was starting to use way too much antiflux, I think.

hey man there's a hole in my head where information goes.

tons of sushi
from: the clubhouse
price: let's not go there
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: spiritualized
comments: we went crazy with sashimi. true story. click to see just how crazy phil went. weeeow.

and we also ate:

comments: the holyrolls are tasty treats. they are regular rolls, but deep fried with a little tempura on the outside. very tasty. the linked pic is one of my cousin's wedding that happened this weekend. congrats, adriana and cristian! she's an rcmp. that's why the cops were there. it wasn't security. they posed for some photo ops holding the bride, but they couldn't seem to hold up the groom. proof of preferential treatment of their own? you decide. haha.

I stand firm for our soil

kamikaze roll, super kalamary roll and negitoro
from: Sushiyama
price: $13
rating: &&&&/&&&&&
listening to: tricky
comments: lots of lunches today, get your clickin finger ready. under my lunch, you gonna see someone who turned 8 today! yay Stu!

and tommy had:

comments: click tommy's lunch to see a sign we saw. I'm thinking that there's just so much construction in this city, that they're breaking out the vintage signs. crazy. actually, you could probably legally park right in front of this one since it doesn't say anything about not parking.

and andy had:

another donburi
comments: click andy's lunch to see a row of scooters I saw on the way home.

and across the continent, Jason had:

curry. I guess some things never change
comments: jason emailed me his lunch. so here it is. it was from here. and if you click jason's lunch you will never be the same again. well, sure you will. you'll just have seen jason's pimp shoes. and I guess, in that respect you will never be the same again, cuz you had maybe never seen them before?
